Abstract
Numerous chemical factors limit normal growth of plants on acid soils. On soils with a pH ≤ 5.5, Al toxicity is a main stress factor for plants, and it is reflected through the inhibition of root growth, a numerous of damages above-ground plant organs, as well as on decreasing of solubility of important biogenic elements. Liming is one of the key measures that can maintain or increase the productivity of acidic soils. Research in the field trials, were conducted on soil type Dystric cambisol. The objective was to determine the reasonable amount of lime material required, in order to mobile Al content in the soil type Dystric cambisol to bring below the hazardous level. The aim was to determine the Al content in the roots of wheat plants, as well as plant’s response to the reduction of content of this element in the soil. The three doses of hydrated lime (CaO x H2O) have been applied in order to reduce acidity: the two were on the level of partial liming (1/3 Y1 CaO and 1/2 Y1 CaO), and the one as full liming (Y1 CaO). Even in the partial liming, response of soil and wheat plants has been very strong. Compared to variants where no lime applied, by partial liming content of aluminum in the soil has been halved, and in the roots of wheat during the whole vegetation it has been multiply decrease
